Welcome to Thrive with ADHD Podcast!

I'm thrilled to share The Learn to Thrive with ADHD Podcast! Listen in each week, with me, ADHD coach, Mande John, where I'll be discussing the impact coaching made on my own ADHD symptoms and how I knew I wanted to help others have the same experience. Every person with ADHD I've shared this with nods in agreement, knowing that if they could just do the things they said they would, life would be so much easier.

In this podcast, we'll explore a variety of topics, and the executive function skills that are often lacking in those with ADHD, such as impulse control, working memory, cognitive flexibility, and more.

Along with working on these skills, I also teach you how to manage your mind and navigate the discomfort that comes with change. You'll hear from me each week as I share tools and coaching concepts, like having your own ADHD coach in your pocket!

What you'll learn when you listen to this podcast:

  • Impulse control

  • Working memory

  • Cognitive flexibility

  • Planning and organization

  • Time management and time awareness

  • Emotional regulation

  • Task initiation

  • Sustained attention

  • Goal directed persistence

I'm so glad you found the podcast. I want to take a moment to let you know what you can expect and how the podcast can help you. Whether you are diagnosed with attention deficit, hyperactivity disorder, ADHD, or you just check all the boxes, coaching made such a profound difference in my ADHD symptoms I knew I wanted to help others have the same experience.

Every person with ADHD I share this with shakes their head YES, in agreement. I knew that if I could just do the things I said I would do when I said I would do them, I would have no problems. All my clients are brilliant people, but doing the things they know would help them is a struggle.

Here's why we're lacking in some or many executive function skills:

- These help us get through life smoothly.

- These skills are housed in our prefrontal cortex. This is essentially the manager of our brain and, frankly, for some skills, they're in their office, asleep under the desk.

Here are the skills I like to focus on:

- Impulse control

- Working memory

- Cognitive flexibility

- Planning and organization

- Time management and time awareness

- Emotional regulation

- Task initiation

- Sustained attention

- Goal directed persistence

You'll find an episode where I break each of these down, and in the future we'll talk about the ways to improve each of these skills.

Along with working on some of these skills, I also teach you how to manage your mind. What do I mean by this? Improving these skills sounds like a great idea and together we make it very doable, but our brain has different priorities than we do at times.

It's wired to keep us safe, avoid pain, seek pleasure and keep everything the same as much as possible. When we start making changes, it seems like a great idea, and then it feels really uncomfortable and we want to quit. That's where I step in and help you through the discomfort by helping you manage your mind.

What are you thinking?

What's getting in the way?

How's this making you feel?

What actions are you taking or not taking?

What results is that getting you?

This is what other coaching programs are lacking. Then, when you don't follow through, you feel like a failure. But you're not. You just didn't have all the tools.

Once you gain an awareness of what's causing the problem, you can shift to better thinking, feelings and actions that will get you the results you want.

Each week, you'll hear from me teaching you tools and coaching concepts. It's like having an ADHD coach in your pocket. I also have lined up many of my amazing clients. They're just like you, and their stories, goals and accomplishments will be relatable and inspiring, so don't miss an episode.
